South Cronulla House

Designed around an existing in-ground swimming pool the living area of this new home features large floor to ceiling glass sliding doors that retract back from a cantilevered corner. Natural stone floor tiles flowing from inside to out dissolves the boundary between interior and exterior living spaces creating a dramatic visual effect when the glass sliding doors are fully opened. These photos were taken prior to the installation of a frameless glass pool fence.

North Cronulla House

Located in a heritage conservation area filled with avenues of Box gums and California bungalows this home was in need of a major renovation. Maintaining the heritage character of the street was important and involved re-instating the front porch, replacing the gable in-fills with battened wall sheeting and setting the first floor additions back behind the main ridge line to maintain the single storey appearance of the conservation area. The traditional side entry was retained but covered with a matching tiled roof that doubles as a porte-cochere. A north facing light well recessed into the middle of the house keeps the home naturally well lit throughout the day and enhances the contemporary feel of the interior.

Featuring soft curves, stone work and natural stained timber framed windows and joinery the design of this new waterfront home exudes a distinct Spanish American style reflecting the owner’s respective nationalities. Facing east over Gunnamatta Bay this three storey waterfront residence encapsulates the best of indoor outdoor entertaining. Large timber framed glass doors slide back into a wall pocket that is concealed behind a dual fire place enabling the entire living area to open up to a glass covered outdoor entertaining area complete with a stone clad fireplace and a servery bench with sink and bbq.
